1. Licenses and Permits
The Main Contractor is responsible for obtaining all necessary licenses, permits, and permissions required for Oculus Group to safely erect and dismantle scaffolding. This includes approvals for any work that may over-sail adjoining properties or boundaries.
2. Parking Suspension
The Main Contractor must provide all necessary parking suspensions and permits to facilitate the work.
3. Access Requirements
Reasonable vehicular access must be maintained by the Main Contractor within 10 (TEN) meters of each work area. The Main Contractor is responsible for arranging the removal of vehicles to allow Oculus Group vehicles to park adjacent to the work area.
4. Compliance with Standards
All scaffolding pricing is based on designs that comply with TG:21 and SG4:15. The designs are prepared using information provided by the Main Contractor, who is responsible for ensuring that all requirements, including loadings and dimensions, are accurately interpreted and feasible.
5. Design Drawings
Any design drawings required outside of TG20:21 will be provided by Oculus Group upon receipt of written instruction from the Main Contractor. The agreed cost for these drawings will be calculated at cost plus 12.5%. All drawings remain the confidential property of Oculus Group and must not be used, copied, or disclosed without authorization.
6. Ground Stability
The Main Contractor must ensure that the ground is sound and capable of supporting the weight and load of the scaffold structure. This includes ensuring that existing structures and the ground can safely support any additional loads.
7. Propping Exclusions
There is no allowance for propping below pavement level or beneath roofs unless specifically detailed in the tender offer.
8. Foundation Responsibility
The scaffold structure will be supported by standards founded on base plates, tredda plates, or timber sole boards as required. Oculus Group will not be liable for any damage or subsidence to paving or similar surfaces resulting from the scaffolding. The Main Contractor must prepare all foundations prior to erection and is responsible for any loss, damage, or injury if the ground fails under load.
9. Access for Erection
All prices are based on the scaffolding being erected and dismantled from the rear of properties with sufficient ground floor access, unless otherwise specified.
10. Use of Equipment
Oculus Group is entitled to free use of the Main Contractor’s crane, hoist, or forklift, including the services of the driver and banksman/slinger as necessary for raising and lowering materials.
11. Obstruction Removal
The Main Contractor is responsible for relocating all obstructions, including advertising boards, lights, and any movable items, prior to scaffold erection. Oculus Group will not accept liability for damage to obstructions that are not removed.
12. Electricity Supply
The Main Contractor must provide an adequate electricity supply and sound base for any hoists, as well as for lighting where applicable.
13. Roof Damage Liability
While every care will be taken when working on roofs, Oculus Group will not accept liability for any damage to slates, tiles, or waterproof coatings unless caused by a proven act of negligence by Oculus Group operatives.
14. Ties and Openings
The Main Contractor must provide adequate openings for tying the scaffold structure. They are also responsible for making good any tie holes upon dismantling.
15. Modification Restrictions
No modifications or alterations to the scaffolding are permitted without prior written consent from Oculus Group.
16. Tie Restraint Suitability
This tender is based on the assumption that the specified tie restraint is suitable for its intended application. Oculus Group cannot guarantee the structure’s adequacy to withstand applied loads beyond foreseeable reasoning. Any alterations required will incur additional costs.
17. Notification for Sheeting
The Main Contractor must notify Oculus Group if tarpaulins or other sheeting are required to be fixed to the scaffold, allowing for the necessary physical tie restraints to be inserted.
18. Lashing Charges
The lashing down of scaffold boards will be charged as a variation cost unless specified in the tender offer.
19. Gap Responsibility
The Main Contractor is responsible for covering the 2-inch gaps between the main deck and the inside boards if required.
20. Debris Netting and Sheeting
Plastic sheeting, monarflex, or debris netting will be fixed only once, with no allowance for return visits, maintenance, or replacement. Non-flame retardant materials will be used unless otherwise specified; flame retardant materials will incur additional costs.
21. Protection Fans
Protection fans are solely for protecting persons and property below and must not be used for access or storage.
22. Temporary Roof Structure
Oculus Group does not guarantee that any temporary roof structure will be completely waterproof. The Main Contractor must provide and install necessary protection to the existing roof during the erection and dismantling of the structure.
23. Safety Inspections
The Main Contractor is responsible for conducting and reporting 7 (SEVEN) day safety inspections. Oculus Group can provide this service at an additional cost.
24. Working Hours
The tender offer is based on scaffolding being erected and dismantled during normal working hours (Monday to Friday, 08:00 to 16:00). Day work during these hours is charged at £30.00 per hour, per person, and outside normal hours at £45.00 per hour, per person.
25. Site Inspection Variations
If this tender offer was submitted verbally without a site visit, Oculus Group reserves the right to amend the offer following a site inspection.
26. Variation Costs for Dimensions
Any variations in dimensions or specifications will be charged as a variation cost.
27. Access for Dismantling
If Oculus Group is unable to access the site to dismantle and remove materials, the scaffold will remain on hire until access is granted.
28. No Credit for Early Off-Hire
There will be no credits for under-hire if the scaffold is off-hired before the fixed hire period expires.
29. Insurance Coverage
Oculus Group currently holds insurance coverage of £10 million for Public Liability and £5 million for Employers’ Liability. Any required increases in coverage will be charged as a variation cost.
30. Payment Terms
Payment terms are set to 30 days unless otherwise specified in the tender offer.
